David "Sonny" Vaughn

August 30, 1946 - December 18, 2017

David “Sonny” Vaughn died peacefully at his home in Paducah, Kentucky on December 18, 2017 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his father, W.D. “Dub” Vaughn and his mother, Alberta “Butch” Vaughn. He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Sharon Vaughn; one brother, Gary Vaughn and wife Evelyn of Paducah, Kentucky; three children, Chad Vaughn and wife Stacy of Smithland, Kentucky, Ronica Woodward and husband Darren of Ledbetter, Kentucky, Jennifer Johnson and husband Toby of Smithland, Kentucky. Sonny was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Bailey Vaughn, Makayla Shelton, Laken Lasher and husband Wes, Austin Woodward, Jhett Johnson, and Lynlee Johnson. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Sonny was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, August 30, 1946. He graduated from Reidland High School then attended Paducah Community College. He later owned and operated Ledbetter Plumbing as a Master Plumber. He was a member of Southland Baptist Temple of Paducah, Kentucky and of Masonic Lodge #952 of Ledbetter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his daily lunches at Kountry Kastle, and attending car shows in his 1929 Ford with all of his street rod community. He loved his family, friends, and his precious dog, Bella Boo. It’s not goodbye; anyone that knew Sonny can hear him say “If you need me; call me,” and he was never without a joke to tell to make you laugh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Jimmy Franks, Bro. Gordy Wilkey, and Bro. Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden in Paducah. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the funeral home, with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Sonny’s honor to Southland Baptist Temple Brazil Missionary Ministry, c/o Gordy Wilkey, 927 Yarbro Ln., Paducah, KY 42003.
