Captain Jim Henson, 69, of Paducah, formerly of Jerseyville, Illinois passed away at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Henson was the Captain of Harrah\'s Casino of Metropolis, Illinois. for sixteen years. Most of his life he worked as a pilot on towboats. His hobbies included collecting Case knives and guns and watching Nascar races. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife Donna Marie Henson, one daughter, Kathy McKenny and husband Brian of Jerseyville, Illinois, one stepson, Bret Sawyer and wife Lisa of Columbia, Missouri., one stepdaughter, Brandi Hopwood and husband Rick of Wilmington, Illinois., two brothers, Charles Henson and wife Maggie of Missouri and Larry Henson and wife Mary Alice of Alabama, three grandchildren, Bubba, Paige and Shelby McKenny, seven step grandchildren, Adam, Jake, Alexandria, and Isaac Sawyer, Kailey, Keaton and Kade Hopwood and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Henson and Katherine Eddington Henson, one brother, Clarence Henson Jr., and one stepson, Bart Sawyer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Mike Rothwell, Pastor of Four Rivers Covenant Church officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
