William \"Bill\" Meeks, 78, of Possum Trot, died at 4:55 a.m. Sunday at Lourdes Hospital.

Mr. Meeks was a retired Florida banker and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was one of the founding members of the Possum Trot Fire Department, a member of Mt. Moriah Church in Benton, a member of VFW Post 1191 of Paducah,and a member of Super City Square Dancers of Metropolis, IL.,

He is survived by his wife, Frances Meeks of Possum Trot, two daughters, Brenda J. Lowery of Princeton and Elizabeth A. Meeks of Paducah, one sister, Tommie Ann Cope of Reidland, one stepson, Troy Reed of Trenton, Georgia, three stepdaughters, Tammy Willett of Mayfield, Trina McCarty of Paducah, Toni York of Trenton, Georgia., seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,

He was preceded in death by one son, William M. Meeks and one great grand son, Brandon Canter. His parents were Will Linn Meeks and Hallie Meeks.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Fooks Cemetery of Possum Trot with Danny Ferrell officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah.
